The Role of your IB Coordinator

We strive to create an inclusive learning community; “living peacefully together by engaging with different ways of knowing and being, prioritizing people and their relationships, assuming shared responsibility for learning, health, and well-being.” ibo.org

The focus of the IB Coordinator is to:

  • work with others in their learning community to create a shared sense of purpose and direction
  • collaborate with others to establish the culture and conditions needed to be an internationally minded IB school.
  • ensure delivery of the curriculum including documentation, reporting, analysis, and evaluation
  • support members of the learning community in taking action to create a better and more peaceful world

It is my pleasure to serve the Dunn learning community by taking responsibility for ensuring the philosophy of the IB is put into practice at our school. In particular, I am devoted to:

The Learner

  • Our mission to engage and empower globally minded learners
  • Getting to know our students personally and inspiring them to take positive action that impacts our world
  • Building relationships with students based on trust and authenticity

Teaching and Learning

  • Play, problem-based learning, collaboration, and experimentation as purposeful inquiry
  • Concepts as broad, abstract organizing ideas that promote meaning and understanding and challenge students to engage with significant ideas
  • The belief that learning how to learn is fundamental to a student's education
  • Creating transdisciplinary learning that has relevance between, across and beyond subjects, connecting learning to what is real in the world

The Learning Community

  • Cultivating learning as a social endeavor benefiting all its members individually and collectively
  • International-mindedness as the view of the world in which people see themselves connected to the global community and assume a responsibility to its members
  • Shared leadership and a collaborative approach to facilitating community
